DW-designed project Desert Prairie captured a Silver Award at the 2019 Nationals for Best One of Kind Home – Custom or Spec.
NAHB’s National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) has announced Silver Award Winners for The Nationals new home sales and marketing awards for home builders, developers, associates, and consultants. Drewett Works received Silver Award honors for Best One of a Kind Home – Custom or Spec for the Desert Prairie project.
Located near the base of Scottsdale landmark Pinnacle Peak, the Desert Prairie is surrounded by distant peaks as well as boulder conservation easements. This 30,710 square foot site was unique in terrain and shape and was in close proximity to adjacent properties. These unique challenges initiated a truly unique piece of architecture. The planning of this residence was very complex as it weaved among the boulders. The owners were agnostic regarding style, yet wanted a warm palate with clean lines. Arriving upon a desert interpretation of a prairie-styled home, the materials meet the surrounding desert with great harmony. Copper, undulating limestone, and quartzite all blend into a low-slung highly protected and intimate home. This striking Scottsdale dwelling channels a Wrightian vibe with stunning horizontals and extensive use of indigenous natural materials.
The Desert Prairie project team included Drewett Works (architecture), Argue Custom Homes (builder), Lindsey Schultz Design (interior design), Ownby Design (interior furnishings), Greey | Pickett (landscape architecture), photography (Werner Segarra).
The Nationals salutes and honors the best in the building industry for their determination, integrity, creativity, and endurance.
