Q&A VISION IN PRACTICE

How does the desert landscape influence your design approach? The desert demands intentionality. I work with carefully curated palettes to how a home frames mountain views, the desert’s light, heat and vastness shape every decision I make. I design to celebrate the climate rather than fight it, creating spaces that feel rooted and right in their desert environment.

What role does collaboration play in your process? Architecture is never a solo act. I surround myself with talented designers, consultants and craftspeople who challenge and elevate the work. My clients are collaborators too. Listening carefully to how they live allows me to translate their aspirations into forms that are both functional and deeply personal—homes that feel like them.

How are materials evolving in your projects today? We’re exploring innovative building systems, high-performance glazing and materials with lower environmental impact. I love concrete, but I’m equally excited by emerging technologies that improve efficiency and comfort without compromising design integrity.
