For more than 25 years, Drewett Works has built a reputation for designing award-winning custom homes that reflect the character of the land, the lifestyle of each client and a distinctly modern architectural vision. Today, that same philosophy is guiding the firm into a new chapter as it expands beyond luxury residential architecture and into mixed-use developments and thoughtfully planned communities—a natural evolution recently featured in Modern Luxury Interiors, May 2026.

In “New Terrain,” Modern Luxury explores how founder and principal architect C.P. Drewett is applying the design principles that have defined the Scottsdale-based architecture firm to projects at a broader scale. Rather than focusing solely on individual residences, Drewett is helping shape neighborhoods and communities, overseeing projects from the earliest stages of visioning through development while maintaining a consistent architectural approach throughout.

The feature spotlights several significant projects that reflect this evolution, including The Bishop, a mixed-use development in Old Town Scottsdale; a boutique residential infill community near Scottsdale Fashion Square; Haven, a modern residential neighborhood; and Boyd’s Mill, a master-planned community outside Nashville. Although each project responds to its own setting, they all share the firm’s commitment to timeless design, thoughtful planning and creating places where people genuinely want to live.

As Drewett explains, “I’ve really enjoyed working on a larger canvas. Being able to carry an initial thought all the way through to fruition, without interruption, is incredibly fulfilling.” That expanded perspective allows the firm to consider not only individual buildings but also how architecture contributes to the identity and long-term success of an entire community.

Even as Drewett Works continues to design exceptional custom homes throughout Arizona and beyond, the firm’s growing development portfolio reflects the same attention to detail and human-centered design that has defined its work for decades. As Drewett notes, “We’re applying what we’ve learned about how people live. The goal is to bring that same level of thoughtfulness into higher-density environments.”
