Set in an enviable location in Lake Havasu, AZ, this modern retreat captures sweeping views of Lake Havasu and the surrounding Mojave Desert. Positioned on a narrow 50-foot-wide lot between neighboring homes, the design challenge was to maximize sightlines while maximizing the limited footprint.
The homeowners envisioned a balance between high-energy and relaxed living. Their wish list included abundant lakeside views, an RV garage, and a lower-level entertaining zone complete with a den, bar, game room, workout studio, dog run and walk-out atrium. The 4,267-square-foot, four-bedroom home’s main floor holds the primary suite, two guest bedrooms, and a versatile patio. A fourth bedroom is tucked just off a mid-level landing.
Spatial ingenuity defines the architecture. The entry is discreetly placed at the side of the home, leading to a light-filled vestibule. To one side lies the great room; to the other, a striking steel, glass and oak staircase appears to float downward. To balance function with form, the home’s pale plaster and limestone exterior is accented with sleek black metal fascia, creating a modern yet grounded aesthetic.
Outdoors, the lakeside patio is layered into distinct zones: a barbecue and dining area, a lounge anchored by a fireplace, and a negative-edge spool for cooling off. The fireplace doubles as a divider and a solar shield, protecting the interiors from the harsh desert sun while shaping the outdoor rooms.
The result is a home with two distinct entertaining experiences: one immersed in activity and water sports, the other centered on quiet moments and panoramic vistas.
Above all, the project embodies thoughtful restraint—rightsizing spaces, minimizing excess, and tailoring the design to meet the essential needs. The result is a residence that delivers everything the homeowners envisioned, in a form that feels both purposeful and beautiful.
